Tilcon has proposed to purchase the mineral rights to 131 acres of New Britain- owned land located in Plainville, adjacent to its current quarry. Tilcon has offered the City of New Britain $15 million for mineral rights only. Tilcon will only quarry the stone; the city of New Britain will still own the land. Tilcon will not own or control the land. In addition to this new revenue for the City of New Britain, this expansion will sustain Tilcon’s annual investment of $40 million in wages and operating supplies and maintain a significant tax base for the region.

Today, Tilcon Connecticut Inc. employs over 800 Connecticut residents, 295 of these residents work at Tilcon’s headquarters in Plainville/New Britain. Many of Tilcon’s employees are second, third, and even fourth generation. In fact, nearly one quarter of our employees have more than 20 years of service — a result of Tilcon’s commitment to providing employees with competitive compensation, and a safe and positive work environment.

Through the expansion of operations at our current site, the towns of Plainville and Southington, the City of New Britain and the state will benefit from the retention of over 800 jobs through 2048. In addition, Tilcon will be able to continue employment opportunities for over 200 local families and residents.

Also, as a result of our continued operations, Tilcon will be able to maintain its longstanding support of local charitable organizations and events.
