Environmental Benefits

Tilcon's Partnership with the Wildlife Habitat Council

In 2005, The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) approached Tilcon about restoring and enhancing the wildlife around its Colchester site located on Rte. 149, along the Airline Trail and the Jeremy River, a feeder stream of the Salmon River. Tilcon accepted the invitation and encouraged its employees to participate in WHC’s “Wildlife at Work” program.

Tilcon employees, along with other community organizations, volunteered their time to remove invasive plants from the location. They also planted native plant species, built nest boxes for birds and monitored the nest boxes once they were established. Through this effort, Tilcon employees have helped restore and conserve the habitat of this area.
