In order to keep our Plainville quarry operating, Tilcon must expand onto land which is adjacent to the present quarry. After conducting extensive research, it was determined that we could expand by acquiring just the mineral rights to the adjacent land owned by the City of New Britain. By purchasing the mineral rights to this land, the City of New Britain would retain ownership of the land while Tilcon would be able to sustain this vital economic resource and activity, along with the hundreds of jobs that are part of our Plainville/New Britain operations.In addition to the substantial economic and employment support to central Connecticut, the expansion of the Tilcon quarry will result in important environmental and natural resource benefits.
